Meet the Renewable Energy Business Unit Manager at Omexom Göteborg- Kristoffer Ekman

Kristoffer Ekman is dedicated to initiatives using battery-based energy storage, a rapidly expanding industry in Sweden. He was most recently hired as the Manager of the Renewable Energy Business Unit at Omexom Göteborg.

Building a 43 MW battery storage installation is the goal of the Bredhälla BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) project in southeast Sweden. This project aims to supply Svenska Kraftnät, the Swedish public power transmission network operator, with auxiliary services. It is situated near the E.ON substation and two wind farms that are presently under development.

“My duties are as technical as they are commercial and managerial, all with an entrepreneurial spirit”

“It’s exciting and hugely rewarding to work on projects like these that will have a direct impact on Sweden’s energy transition,” he says. There is no lack of challenges: “On these projects, we have to adapt to equipment from different suppliers, and also adhere to extremely tight installation deadlines, while ensuring that the installation is safe.”

This 47-year-old engineer finds that his current work assignments align more with his values and preferences than before. He was ready for a new challenge after ten years of working for the ABB group in a variety of capacities, including production line manager, product manager, and management in the R&D department.
